Below are two press releases regarding the recent arrest of a man in central Bristol.


07th July 2010

At approx 07:00am on Wednesday 7 July 2010 officers from the Metroplitan Police Counter Terrorism Command arrested a man under the Terrorism Act 2000 on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism at an address in Bristol as part of a joint operation with Avon and Somerset Police.He is currently in custody and will be taken to a central London police station.


8th July 2010

Following the interview of the suspect yesterday and the recovery of some items at the property, he has been de-arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, but re-arrested for perpetrating a bomb hoax .Early investigation shows this was a hoax being played out on a national newspaper. He remains in custody in London and the metropolitan Police will be retaining ownership of the investigation.
