Bristol Somali Forum invites you to a roundtable discussion with Professor Abdi Ismail Samatar. We are pleased to announce that Professor Samatar has accepted our invitation to join us here in Bristol on Sunday 1st August. Abdi Samater is a Professor and Head of the Department of Geography at the the University of Minnesota.

Please be aware that there have been two burglaries at Mosques in Bristol within the last few weeks.

Police have a suspect and there are further enquiries being made in order to make an arrest.

Please ensure the security of your Mosque is checked.

07th July 2010

At approx 07:00am on Wednesday 7 July 2010 officers from the Metroplitan Police Counter Terrorism Command arrested a man under the Terrorism Act 2000 on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism at an address in Bristol as part of a joint operation with Avon and Somerset Police.He is currently in custody and will be taken to a central London police station.


8th July 2010

Following the interview of the suspect yesterday and the recovery of some items at the property, he has been de-arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, but re-arrested for perpetrating a bomb hoax .Early investigation shows this was a hoax being played out on a national newspaper. He remains in custody in London and the metropolitan Police will be retaining ownership of the investigation.
